The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a press release reacting to the passing of former Old Tafo Member of Parliament (MP), Dr. Anthony Akoto Osei.

The former MP and Minister of state was confirmed dead on Monday, March 20, in a short post by Parliament on Facebook.

“Former Old Tafo MP, Hon. Dr. Anthony Osei Akoto passes away. May he rest in peace,” the post shared.

In its release today, the NPP said it is shocked and in disbelief that Dr. Akoto Osei has passed.

To mourn the deceased, the party has decided that for the next seven days, all party flags at its National Headquarters and regional offices will fly at half-mast.

“The Party extends its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family and also commiserates with the rest of the nation for the painful loss of this illustrious citizen.

“In honour of his memory, the NPP directs that all Party flags at the national headquarters and in the respective regions and constituencies be flown at half-mast for the next seven days,” the NPP release signed by National Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim said on Tuesday.

The NPP release added, “May the soul of our dearly departed find comfort in God's bosom, and may the family he left behind, and indeed, all of us in the Party and beyond find fortitude to bear this great loss.”
