Taa Korang eyes NDC Berekum East Chairmanship

A former Cadre, Kwabena Taa Korang, has his sights set on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairmanship position in the Berekum East Constituency.

He joins a host of others, including party big wigs, who have also declared their interest in the position. But the former youth organiser appears unfazed.

“I am the right candidate to take the party to victory, come 2024, ” he said with much confidence.

According to the renowned philanthropist, he decided to contest following persistent calls from the rank and file of the party in the constituency.

His aspirations, however, confront the hurdle posed by the incumbent constituency Chairman, Oheneba Ansu, iif he decides to seek re-election.

Taa Korang, popularly known as K.T.K., who in 1992 contested in the NDC Berekum Parliamentary Primaries, has over 30 years proven track record in leadership management.

He holds a diploma in Business Administration (Accounting option) from the University of Professional Studies (formerly IPS).

The veteran politician was an activist of the Egle party, which formed the Progressive Alliance with the NDC and the National Convention Party (NCP) to win the 1992 general elections.

Taa Korang is acknowledged for some significant personal contributions to the party over the years. He gave out a Pick-Up vehicle and other logistics to support the 1996 general elections campaign of the party and has participated in the payment of the allowances of party officials manning the constituency office since 2019.

Additionally, the former Regional Fire Commander adopted the entire Zongo Community in the constituency and facilitated the construction of an Information Centre for the area.

Taa Korang had been a member of not less than four Regional Security Councils at different times. The regions are Accra, Tema, Volta, and Brong Ahafo.

He was a government appointee with the Berekum District Assembly for many years and carries vast experience in leadership.
