It was an embarrassing day for the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party Bernard Antwi Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi as his own 'boys' hooted at him when arrived at the Ashanti regional delegates conference held on Wednesday.
A large number of persons believed to be members of the pro-NPP group, Delta Force who stood near the entrance of the Forest Research Institute Gardens could not hold their calm upon seeing Chairman Wontumi who used to be their Commander-In-Chief.
The pro-NPP group who are well-known to have played a huge role in the victory of the party in the 2016 and 2020 general elections, and for the first and second chairmanship contests of Wontumi surprised everyone at the grounds when they appeared wearing Odeneho Kwaku Appiah’s branded T-shirts.
They claimed Chairman Wontumi had neglected them and greedily amassing huge wealth for himself.
“We don’t want a chairman who will display gold on TV but not help party grassroots. He is selfish and greedy,” their leader who identifies himself as Ernesto told journalists.
Many people who saw the Delta Force Members in Chairman Odeneho’s branded T-shirts could tell the massive defeat staring Chairman Wontumi in the face if he fails to gather some smart moves.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah entered the ceremony grounds in a grand style led by about 1000 party members flanked by the heavily bodied Delta Force men.
He is the current constituency chairman for Afigya Kwabre South constituency, having served in that capacity for 20 years.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah is a one-time Regional Treasurer and currently doubles as Chairman of constituency chairmen in the region.
