Ghana’s gospel music industry has a new entrant. Jolene has made a glorious entry into the ministry of Ghanaian worship ministers with the release of her maiden album – Shalom !
Jolene Tettey begun her music ministry in Achimota School at age of fourteen (14) in the early 90s. She was then a member of a group called the Triumphant Life (or T-Life), made up of 8 student girls who usually ministered during the school’s Scripture Union (SU) meetings and other religious gatherings on campus.
She enrolled at the University of Ghana in 1994 where she studied Nutrition and Food Science. There, she joined and became an integral member of the Legon Pentecostals Union (LPU) choir, and served as a worship leader in the group.
After more than two decades in gospel music ministry, Jolene is set to release her maiden album dubbed Shalom. Shalom is an eight track album with a lyrically rich and instrumentally engaging content. The songs on the album are already enjoying air play and are set to minister to the hearts of many who require a message from the Lord in the midst of very challenging global economic and social conditions.
“Shalom” means Peace. The Lord gave me this song in prayer. It is a song of assurance for God’s people to know that despite the seemingly challenging times we find ourselves in, He is still with us and will remain our firm support.” Jolene told this reporter.
Among the songs on the album is Royal Priesthood, which features Elder Appiah of Soul Winners fame. There is also Look Beyond which talks about the need for Christians not to allow their present circumstances to determine their future but rather keep their focus on God’s promise concerning their lives. Other songs include Nhyiraba, Efata Wo and Glory of God. The album is scheduled to be launched on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at the Tesano Baptist Church and it features Eugene Zuta and Osei on drums. It’s open to the public and all general gospel music lovers for free.
Jolene currently worships with the Fountain Gate Chapel in Ofankor, Accra. She is married to Leslie Tettey and they are blessed with three boys.
