Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has assured the public that disciplinary action will be taken on a viral video showing a senior high school student allegedly assaulting a junior colleague.
The incident, which reportedly occurred at Nsutaman Catholic Senior High School in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region on social media.
Reports indicate that the confrontation stemmed from allegations that the junior student had information about a missing mobile phone.
In the video, the senior student is seen slapping the younger colleague while other students looked on.
"The attached viral video of a student assaulting another student has come to the attention of the Ministry. I've since forwarded it to the Director General of GES for action," Dr Apaak said in a social media post on Tuesday, June 23.
The Deputy Education Minister said the Ministry of Education is taking the matter seriously and has referred the case to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for the necessary action.
"On behalf of the Honourable Minister for Education, I wish to assure the public that we will not tolerate acts of lawlessness and indiscipline in our educational system. Indiscipline will be punished," he added.
Meanwhile, the development comes after the Ministry of Education cautioned final-year Senior High School students against acts of vandalism and indiscipline following the completion of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
The Ministry has consistently noted that schools must remain safe environments where discipline, respect and responsible behaviour are upheld.
