Veteran Nollywood actor, Francis Duru, has dismissed remours claiming he is battling a terminal illness following the circulation of a viral video that sparked concern among fans and colleagues.
The rumours gained attention on social media after a video of the actor looking frail surfaced, leading many to question his health.
Responding to the speculation in a video posted on Instagram, Duru denied being seriously ill and described the reports as false and malicious.
The actor said he has never been as sick as portrayed in the viral video and expressed confidence that he would continue to enjoy good health.
“I have never been that sick and would never be that sick. By God's grace, I will keep getting stronger and stronger,” he said.
Francis Duru also criticised those responsible for spreading the rumours, accusing them of creating negative stories about people to attract attention and generate online traffic.
He thanked his fans for their prayers, support and concern, assuring them that he was doing well.
Despite his reassurance, some fans remained worried about his appearance in the video, with several commenting on what they described as noticeable weight loss and a weaker look.
Many took to the comment section to offer prayers and words of encouragement, expressing hope that the actor remains healthy and strong.
Francis Duru is one of Nollywood's most respected actors, with a career spanning some decades and numerous memorable roles in the Nigerian film industry.
