Ghanaian dancehall musician Stonebwoy has expressed sympathy for families and communities affected by the devastating floods that swept through parts of Accra following heavy rainfall.
In a heartfelt post on X, the award-winning artiste said his thoughts are with all those impacted by the disaster while urging Ghanaians to take collective responsibility in preventing future flooding.
"Seeing the flood reports across the Capital. My heart is with every family and community affected," he wrote.
Stonebwoy emphasized that addressing the recurring flood situation requires the commitment of every citizen. He called on the public to stop dumping refuse into drainage systems, avoid putting up structures on waterways, and ensure households construct proper drainage systems to improve the flow of rainwater.
According to him, individual actions can significantly reduce the impact of flooding if everyone plays their part.
Beyond personal responsibility, the musician appealed to government authorities to take urgent measures by desilting drains and, where necessary, widening and reconstructing major drainage channels across the capital to accommodate increasing volumes of water.
He also encouraged residents to remain vigilant, support one another during this difficult period, and strictly adhere to safety directives issued by the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and other relevant authorities.
"Please stay safe, look out for one another, and follow all safety advisories from NADMO and the relevant authorities," Stonebwoy concluded.
