Mr Kurt Okreku, newly elected president of GFA

The communication Director of Ghana Gas, Mr. Ernest Owusu Bempah, has sent his congratulations to the newly elected President of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), Mr. Kurt Okraku.

Mr. Kurt Okraku beat off competition from five other contestants namely Fred Pappoe, Amanda Clinton, Nana Yaw Amposah, George Afriyie and George Ankomah to win the highest office of the GFA.

In a write up to congratulate his longtime friend, Mr. Bempah said “Kurt has always been a very down-to-earth person and I am not surprised he has weather the storm to become the President of the Ghana Football Association.

What concerns me however was his rapid rise to the higher echelons of Ghanaian football and his legacy, which has remained strong and interestingly continues to shine and impress even if operating from a relatively deprived position in Ghana’s contemporary football politics”.

Below is the write up of Mr Owusu Bempah congratulating the newly elected boss of the GFA:

Ernest Kofi Owusu Bempah Congratulating Kurt Okraku.

I have known Kurt Okraku since my GIJ days. And this was the invincible class of 2000 partly comprises of my good self, Kurt Okraku, Anas Amereyaw Anas, Raymond Archer, Akwasi Sarpong of the BBC etcetera.

Kurt has always been a very down-to-earth person and I am not surprised he has weather the storm to become the President of the Ghana Football Association.

What concerns me however was his rapid rise to the higher echelons of Ghanaian football and his legacy, which has remained strong and interestingly continues to shine and impress even if operating from a relatively deprived position in Ghana’s contemporary football politics.

Throughout the post Kwesi Nyantekyi turbulent times, with the much-dreaded number 12 exposé hanging out there like some albatross, Kurt Okraku carved a niche for saying it as it is without necessarily descending into the gutters. Little wonder then that very little or no unkind word or attacks were “unleashed” on his good self by the most ardent of football critics on the Ghanaian media scene.

Never once did Kurt Okraku pander to the pressure of premiership football with his "Dream FC" in the limelight.

What amazed me most was his promotion of the rare concept by which modern football management should be run. It was almost as if Kurt Okraku ate, breathed and slept around football. No doubt football is in his blood I am certain he will succeed and restore the much needed dignity for the celebration of the beautiful game.

Congratulations for this enviable feat, my brother and friend.
