Kumasi, Dec 20, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Circles Council (RCC) of the Kumasi Asante Kotoko Supporters Union will next year embark on three income-generating projects to strengthen the financial base of the club.

The projects include the production of filtered water (pure water), operation of a bar and restaurant as well as the cultivation of cash crops.

Mr Kwadwo Nyantakyi, the RCC Chairman made the announcement at the inauguration of Circle 116 of Sepe-Buokrom in Kumasi on Sunday. Mr Eric Akosah is the Chairman of the Circle.

He said that the projects formed part of a five-year development plan by the RCC to facilitate the development of the club, adding that proceeds from the projects will be geared towards the completion of the Kotoko Club House at Oduom near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the construction of a stadium for the club. Mr Nyantakyi called on supporters of the club to be committed and resolve to join the Circles so as to contribute meaningfully towards the team's build-up.

The Chairman expressed optimism of Kotoko winning this year's CAF Confederation Cup, but cautioned the supporters against acts of hooliganism during their encounter with Hearts of Oak in Accra. "We know where we are coming from and we should be guided by the consequence of any misconduct on the part of our supporters", he said. Mr Nyantakyi also called on the supporters to give their unflinching support to the players and not to intimidate them on the field of play since that could jeopardise their ambition achieving the ultimate goal of the club.
