One- man supporter files appeal

Mr. Bright Akwetey, counsel for Mr. Boakye (One Man Supporter) has filed an appeal at the Court of Appeal in Accra seeking to overturn the High Court judgment which ruled in favour of the Ghana Football Association and its President, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Mr. Boakye had gone to court for what he called unpaid commission relating to the GFA-Glo sponsorship deal.

He claimed he played a major role in persuading Globacom to honour the senior national team the Black Stars and the local premier league.

But the court presided over by Mr. Justice Richard Agyei-Frempong on October 14.2012 ruled against Mr. Boakye.

Starting grounds of appeal, Mr. Akwettey said the High court judgment was against the weight of evidence.

''The judge erred in law in making a finding that Afrisat is the agent who brokered the deal between the GFA and Globacom'', he stated.

According to counsel, the judge failed to take into consideration the effect of all the documents tendered in evidence to know the “false involvement of Afrisat in the Globacom deal''.

Again in his view the court should have taken into consideration the fact that before Afrisat allegedly got involved on October 14, 2008, Globacom had already sponsored the GHALCHA TOP4 between August and September 2008 through the instrumentality of Mr. Boakye.

The judge erred in law in failing to take into consideration the effect of the use of the name Nana Nimo in the transaction''.

No date has been fixed for hearing.
