Assistant Black Stars coach Desmond Ofei has expressed strong confidence that Ghana will put in maximum effort to secure a positive result against Panama in their opening 2026 World Cup group match.
Ghana, four-time African champions, are targeting a return to the knockout stages for the first time since 2010. They have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
However, concerns remain over the team’s form in recent preparations, with reports indicating that the squad has not been at its best and will also be missing several key players.
The Black Stars begin their campaign on Wednesday, June 17, at BMO Field in Toronto, where they face Panama in what is expected to be a crucial opener.
Despite the challenges, Ofei remains upbeat about Ghana’s chances.
"We are going to do everything possible to win against Panama," he told Asempa FM.
After the opener, Ghana will turn their attention to England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 before concluding their group stage fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
The team has already arrived in Toronto and is expected to hold a mandatory training session ahead of the clash as preparations intensify for their tournament debut.
