Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has expressed a strong belief that Ghana will begin their 2026 World Cup campaign with a victory over Panama in their opening Group L fixture.
Ghana face the Central American side on Wednesday, June 17, at BMO Field in Toronto, as they launch their bid in what is expected to be a tightly contested group.
Preparations for the four-time African champions have been less than ideal, with limited match action in the build-up to the tournament.
The team will also be without several key players heading into their fifth appearance at the global showpiece.
Despite those concerns, Queiroz remains upbeat about his squad’s prospects.
“We’re strong, and we’re going to make it,” the 73-year-old said in comments to Asempa FM, underlining his confidence ahead of the opener.
After the Panama clash, Ghana will take on England at Gillette Stadium on June 23 before concluding their group stage campaign against Croatia on June 27.
The Black Stars have already arrived in Toronto and are expected to step up preparations with a mandatory training session ahead of their opening match.
