Former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) major, Kojo Bonsu has implored the Ghana Football Association [GFA] to appoint Chris Hughton as the new Black Stars head coach.

Otto Addo, who signed a contract with the FA after steering Ghana's qualification to the 2022 World Cup has left his role after the country's elimination from the Mundial in Qatar.

With the country's football governing body set to appoint a new gaffer, Bonsu says Hughton, who served as the technical advisor under Otto Addo must be given the position of the head coach.

“I’m in for either a local or expatriate, but also, a coach who is well committed to the team, and let’s pay him well. We like cheap labor and we need to avoid those stuff and allow the coach to make his selections of players," Kojo Bonsu told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.

“I will personally go in for Chris Hughton ahead of the current coaches we have if only the man is willing to do the job.”

He added, “We have numerous players that are very good and with a great coach, the team will go further. We should scout for a better coach and allow him to appoint his assistant coaches."

Ghana now focus on the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] next year.
