A Petition To The Director General Of Ghana Education Service: Anlo Youths Unhappy With Neglect Of The Anloga District In The Allocation Of Teachers For The 2019/20 Academic Year

Press Release Director General Of Ghana Education Service, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa
NOV 22, 2019 LISTEN
Director General Of Ghana Education Service, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa

We, the youths of Anlo have noted with shock and utter dismay the neglect of the Anloga district by the Ghana Education Service in the allocation of teachers who were posted on Wednesday, 20th November, 2019 to various basic schools across the country. It comes to us as a big surprise that every district has been apportioned teachers except that of ours.

The Anloga district is one of the six new districts created last year and was carved out of the Keta Municipal Assembly with its capital being Anloga. It was inaugurated on 19th February, 2019, at a function attended by the Volta regional minister who represented the President of the republic, the Municipal Chief Executive of Keta Municipal Assembly who was later appointed the substantive District Chief Executive Anloga, the Awomefia of the Anlo state, among others.

We are of a firm belief that the exclusion of the district in the allocation of teachers cannot be because there is abundance of teachers in the district. We are reliably aware of a number of schools in dire need of teachers, one of such schools is Fuveme R/C Basic School which has only three trained teachers and two pupil teachers manning the school. One would ask how five teachers can teach eleven classes.

We are by this press release calling on the Director General of the Ghana Education Service to as a matter of urgency rectify the situation by posting teachers to the district by any means possible.

In conclusion, we wish to draw the attention of the Government to what can best be described as a recurring neglect of the Volta region in the sharing of the national cake. Avoidable mistakes such as this has the potential of causing mayhem, especially with the emergence of a secessionist group declaring independence of the Volta region.

Thank you.
Signed
Saviour Gokah
