Oyibi, (GAR), June 19,GNA - Members of Oyibi-Naneman-Seduasi-Bawaleshi Area Council (ONSBAC) have been schooled on the new fee fixing resolution by the Kpone- Katamanso District Assembly (KKDA).

The workshop was the third of four planed workshops to be carried out across the Kpone-Katamanso District, and it was in line with the new local government Act, Act 936, 2016, which mandated only the Metropolitan, Municipal or District assemblies to impose certain levies on residents in the jurisdiction.

Mr. Noble Atsu Ahadzi, the District Budget Officer of KKDA, said though the Assembly received funds from the Central Government, the MP and some donors such funds were inadequate to develop the District, so the Assembly relied more on Internally Generated Fund (IGF).

Mr. Ahadzi added that, for the Assembly to achieve its budget target, members must pay their rates and levies which included property rates, special rates and basic rates.

The District Planning Officer, Mrs. Ivy Oduro Kwateng, also presented to the people what the District Assembly was able to do since its establishment in 2012 which included Roads, Schools, Health and Police post.

The District Planning Officer was optimistic the District Assembly would complete all uncompleted projects and start new ones.

The Kpone-Katamanso District Assembly was currently embarking on a sensitization workshop on the new fee fixing resolution with the four Area Councils within the District with the last one expected to be held on Wednesday 21st June 2017, at Zenu.

The fee fixing resolution was the new local government Act 2016 Act 936 which mandated the District Assembly to engage opinion leaders, stakeholders and members within the District in determining how much to be levied on the members for developmental purposes.
