22.08.2015 LISTEN
By Afrikanus Kofi Akosah

Africa Youth Peace Call (AYPC) is an independent, non-profit, research and educational organisation devoted to the principles of individual liberty, secure private property rights, free markets, rule of law, limited government, and government non-interference in the economy.

Economic Freedom is the key to greater opportunity and an improved quality of life. It is the freedom to choose how to produce, sell, and use your own resources, while respecting others’ rights to do the same. While a simple concept, economic freedom is an engine that drives prosperity in the world and is the difference between why some societies thrive while others do not.

In fact it is important because it affects every aspect of an individual’s life. Living in a society with high levels of economic freedom leads to higher incomes, lower poverty, less unemployment, longer life expectancies, and cleaner environments, among a host of other benefits. Sophisticated Economic Freedom system improves well-being and leads to a higher quality of life.

Forlornly the discourse on economic freedom has not be given the necessary attention in the mainstream media. We turn to discuss more of political freedom which cannot be realized fully without Economic Freedom. For twenty years now the Heritage Foundation in Washington DC has been ranking countries on how economically free they are in the annual Index of Economic Freedom.

The Communicating Economic Freedom Workshop intends to introduce media personnel to the index. Our main focus is to assist journalists to do a better job of understanding & reporting Economic Freedom issues. Members of the 4th Estate have a tremendous position to influence sound policy direction and its concomitant economic prosperity.

The long term goal is to create a Network of Journalist for Economic Freedom who can stimulate discussions and advocacy on Economic Freedom. We have initiated talks with the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) to sponsor an award for the Best Economic Freedom Journalist for their Annual Journalist Awards. The network will also facilitate the participation of members in the various international and local conferences organised by our partners on Economic Liberty.

It is in this direction that we have scheduled a Workshop on 28-29 August, 2015, at Anita Hotel, Ejisu for forty Media Personnel to be drawn from every region in the country. We are honoured to invite your staffs who are reporters, Morning and Talk Show Hosts, Newscasters, Producers and in-House Panelists to participate in the workshop.

Participants will get hard & soft copies of the 2015 Index of Economic Freedom and some of our other publications. More so there is Honorarium and transport reimbursement.

Interested personnel from your outfit should register should get in touch with us since online registration is closed.
