Hon. Samuel Sarpong Back To Cape Coast

Former Ashanti regional minister, Samuel Sarpong has expressed appreciation to the central regional executives of the National Democratic Congress for having a fond memory of the role he played in the region when he served as their minister.

Mr. Sarpong stated this when he joined hosts of dignitaries of the party from across the country in Cape Coast to inaugurate various committees who would steer the affairs of the NDC party in the region.
He said he was shocked when he received a message inviting him to the inaugural ceremony. “I was highly surprised when I had a letter from the executives of the party calling on me to attend this all important ceremony”

He continued “in fact, I did not believe it so I quickly called Chairman Allotey Jacobs who confirmed that, they the executives in the region continue to remember the role I played during my tenure as the regional minister and therefore wanted me to be part of their success story”.

“I feel so honoured to be here today to witness this great occasion. Central region has done so well and I am appealing to other regions to learn from this. Executives in the other regions should try to get on board all those who loss during the regional elections to enable the party wins the 2016 elections”.

Following his recent dismissal as the Ashanti regional minister, Mr. Sarpong stressed that no prophet is honuoured by the people of his own land saying “but I think it was timely and strategic because I am going back to the Ashanti region with fire to help put things in place so that the party can win the one million votes we need in the region.”

Mr. Samuel Sarpong who once served as a minister for the central region for a year said, “we in the Ashanti region need one million votes for the party but the central region must give the party up to 90% votes so that we can win the elections one time”. He therefore called on the members of the committees to work hard for the party to win power.

Hon. Samuel Sarpong returned to his native Ashanti region when the last regional ministerial reshuffle was done. He won the best regional ministers' award on two occasions due to his good works but he was surprisingly shown the exit some months ago due to a tango between him and his deputy.

In all, eight committees were inaugurated. They were Legal and Constitutional, Political, Research and Organisational committees.

The rest were Communications, Youth Wing, Finance and Women's Wing Committees.
