An unidentified man was killed on Sunday night when two vehicles ran over him at the Poku Transport traffic lights at Oforikrom in Kumasi. The unidentified man, who did not die from the first knock of a taxi, was still wriggling in the middle of the road when a VW Golf saloon car ran over him, resulting in his death.

The Graphic reporter witnessed the incident, which happened a few minutes after 8p.m. His head was smashed beyond recognition with blood spilling all over the street.

The incident happened when the man tried to cross the road at the traffic light, while the green light for vehicles was still on.

The taxi, which was running fast to avoid the red signal knocked the man down and sped off. Eyewitnesses tried to stop on-coming cars in order to carry the man from the middle of the road for medical attention but the driver of the Golf saloon car, who ignored the signal run over the body.

Unfortunately, when he also realised that he had run over a human body, he sped off. None of the eyewitnesses present were able to take down the registration number of the hit and run vehicles. The incident resulted in a traffic jam with a large crowd gathering at the scene of the accident.

The body of the deceased, who is yet to be identified, was later carried away by the Police and deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) morgue for autopsy.
