Accra, June 4, GNA - A 25-member Chinese Business delegation arrived in the country on Friday to explore opportunities in the Garments and Textiles Industry.

The delegation, led by Mr Jonas Wu, Ghana's Honorary Consul in Hong Kong told journalists on arrival that the visit was in response to an earlier visit by a Ghanaian delegation to Hong Kong last year to market Ghana's Garment and Textiles opportunities.

He said the members of the delegation represented different Garment and Textiles industries based in China and that after the exploration, they would want to set up Garment Textiles factories in Ghana. Mr Wu described Ghana's business environment as conducive, based on reports that they had heard and read, adding that Ghanaians must also show how sincere they are.

"This is an opportunity for Ghanaians to show how sincere they can be, especially when none of the members of the delegation have ever been to Africa", he added.

Nana Tweneboah Boateng, Co-ordinator of the President's Special Initiative (PSI) on Garment and Textiles noted that the enabling environment created by the Government was attracting potential investors.

He expressed the hope that the opportunities that Africa Growth and Opportunities Act (AGOA) represented would encourage other investors in the Garments and Textiles Industry to follow suit.
