TMG Urges Voters to Collect Their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC)
As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reschedules the distribution of PVCs in the second phase of the exercise in some selected states, TMG wishes to urge registered voters to take advantage of the exercise by taking steps to collect their PVCs from their respective polling units.
According to information provided by INEC, the PVCs will now be distributed at polling units in the affected states from Friday, August 15, 2014 to Sunday, August 17, 2014; instead of July 18th to July 20th as was earlier scheduled.
The affected states in the second phase of the exercise are; Yobe, Bauchi (North East), Jigawa, Sokoto (North West), FCT, Kwara (North Central), Anambra, Ebonyi (South East), Ondo, Oyo (South West) and Delta, Cross River (South South). At the end of the polling unit level distribution, uncollected PVCs will be taken to respective local government offices of the Commission for subsequent distribution.
While noting the importance of having valid PVCs, without which voters will be automatically, disenfranchised and consequently barred from voting in coming elections, the TMG wishes to encourage all registered voters in the aforementioned states to troop out en masse to get their cards. This is a key step by voters towards ensuring that their voices count in the electoral process, especially with the 2015 polls just around the corner.
The TMG wishes to reiterate that the PVC distribution exercise, which is now scheduled to hold fromFriday, August 15, 2014 to Sunday, August 17, 2014 presents another veritable opportunity for the Nigerian people to prime themselves in readiness to vote the change they want to see next year.
Long Live Nigeria!
