Accra, May 7, GNA â€' Super Middleweight boxer, Bastie Samir has set sights on the World Boxing Organization (Africa) title at the end of the month.
The 26-year old nicknamed 'Beast' told GNA Sports he is looking forward to his decoration as the best in the weight category at the continental level when he lines up against a yet-to-be named opponent on Saturday, May 25, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The hard-hitting pugilist who made mince meat of Nigerian Ademola Faniyi last Friday in an undercard of the night dubbed 'Danger Zone', which saw the latter retiring in the first round is roaring for global recognition within the shortest possible time.
'I'm looking forward to the fight on May 25. I have started training and I'm on course,' said the boxer who holds a record of 14-1 (13 KO).
Samir, who captain the Ghana Amateur Boxing team (Black Bombers) at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, said 'hopefully at the end of the year, I want to get a shot at the World title.'
Since turning pro three months after the Olympic Games, the middleweight boxer was domiciled in the United States of America (USA) until recently relocatingn to his place of birth.
'I decided to come back to Ghana to give my fans the opportunity to see me in action. They had not seen me since I left the amateur ranks because I was based in the USA.
'I want to win a major title in Ghana before I relocate to the USA for a world title' said Samir who has dispatched his victims in all three fights in Ghana via the short distance.
The highlight of his amateur career was winning silver at the 2007 All Africa Games in Algiers, Algeria.
