Getafe and Black Stars midfielder Derek Boateng has said that in as much as winning trophies is important to every player, helping people, especially the less privileged is his topmost priority.

Speaking in a post-party interview on Christmas day at the Osu Children's Home in Accra, the dread locked player revealed that: 'Helping people, especially the less privileged is my priority in life and I will at any time chose that over winning trophies.'

The player took time off his busy Christmas schedule to party with the inmates of the orphanage.

Boateng, in the company of some close friends, like the biblical Jesus, distributed food items and drinks worth thousands of cedis to the children at the Home, amid merry making.

He spent close to five hours with the kids, engaging in all manner of activities from a four aside soccer game, through dancing competition and choreography.

The raster haired player also used the occasion to present school uniforms worth ¢6,000 and pledged to complete an uncompleted classroom block for the nursery department.

In a post-party interview, Boateng revealed that” I have been doing this for the past five years; its always been my passion to help people, especially the less privilege.”

The headmistress of the school, Madam Sharon Abbey expressed profuse thanks to the player for the gesture saying, “It's Christmas day, and I must confess, I feel like the Manger is right here with us.”

She called on other players and corporate bodies to follow the player's example.
