Fans of Asante Kotoko are calling for the dismissal of head coach Isaac Opeele Boateng after Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Gamba All Blacks on the opening match day of the second half of the season.

Kotoko were seeking to improve results after a patchy half-way form saw them lose five times in the League and also bow out of the Caf Champions League.

All Blacks repeated the winning dose after a 0-1 win at the Baba Yara Stadium in the corresponding fixture last month.

The defending champions are now 14 points behind leaders and rivals Hearts of Oak in fourth place on the League table.

"After the match the supporters were so angry with the coach and tried to question his tactics and there were those who think coach Opeele has been talking too much," Jerome Otchere, a reporter with the club's official mouthpiece told a local radio station.

"I asked him whether he was worried and he said he believes he created a lot of enemies for himself before joining Kotoko and that those people are paying him back," he added.

"Speaking to him again, he sounded like somebody who still believes he can do the work in spite of the questions that people are raising about his ability.

"What he told me was that at the end of the first round of the season he requested for six players but management decided to go for four and eventually the four were not purchased."

Opeele quit Tema Youth in January this year to assist Belgian trainer Maurice Cooreman who was sacked in February for poor results.
