Zamalek in bizarre Agogo claim

By The Statesman

Ghana striker Junior Agogo has been bizarrely told by his Egyptian club Zamalek that his wages have not been paid because he did not SWEAT in a match!

The player agent's agent has arrived in Cairo to demand an explanation on why US$200,000 has been deducted from the forward"s salary.

Zamalek have refused to explain or write to the player on why his salary was ducked which prompted a report to the Egypt FA and his agent's intervention. But Ernest Okudzeto was in utter shock after meeting the club"s board yesterday when he was told the Ghana striker did not sweat in a game.

"I was negatively gobsmacked when I asked for the reasons and I was told the so called fine was imposed because he did not sweat in a game,' Okudzeto told Ghanasoccernet.com.

"This is the most shocking thing I have heard in football. They have no valid reason so they come up with this cock and bull story. "They keep changing their stories from day to day. Zamalek are giving Africa and Arab football a very bad name by their actions.

'That is why they are petrified to put it into writing so that they can be challenged before Fifa. How can this be said when a player plays a game for 90 minutes?,' Okudzeto asked.

The player has written to the Egypt FA to intervene but the striker has not received a response from the country's governing body eight days after a compliant was filed.

The current Zamalek board is trying desperately to frustrate the Ghana international but Agogo"s agent says the striker is focused on his duties.

Agogo was signed under former club president Mamdouh Abbas last year but the current Zamalek board has told the striker his agreement under the previous regime is void because of the change in administration.

The 29-year-old was beginning to settle in Egypt under the Abbas-led board since his move from English side Nottingham Forest.

But he has not had the best of times since the departure of Abbas in an acrimonious power struggle at the club. ghanaweb.com
