Two institutions support sports development in Amenfi East District

The Amanfiman Rural Bank at Wassa-Akropong and the Wassa Amanfi East District Assembly have donated sporting items worth millions of cedis to the District Education Office as their contribution towards the promotion of sports in the District.

Mr. John K. Mensah, Manager of the Bank presented 50 sets of track suits while the District Chief Executive, Madam Doris Gyapomaah Oduro presented footballs and wall clocks to the Education office on behalf of the Assembly at a ceremony at Wassa-Akropong.

The items from the District Assembly are to be distributed to six schools that excelled during a sports competition to commemorate Ghana's 51st independence anniversary at Wassa-Akropong.

The beneficiary schools include the Redeemer Preparatory School, New Age School Complex, RIIS Presbyterian School, Amenfiman Model School, Roman Catholic Junior High School and Amenfiman Senior High School.

Madam Oduro urged teachers to team up with sports teachers to work hard to unearth sporting talents that abound among the youth in the District.

Madam Felicia Mary Ghansah, District Director of Education who received the items thanked the donors and said the items would go a long way to boost the morale of those selected to represent the District in the inter schools sports competition at Enchi next week.

She appealed for more support from individuals and organisations to enhance the chances of the District in the competition.
