An STC bus has been swept away by floodwaters at Achimota–Abofu following Monday’s downpour, as torrential rains continue to cause widespread disruption and dangerous conditions across parts of Accra.
The incident occurred on Monday, June 29 after intense rainfall led to rapidly rising water levels, turning sections of the road into fast-moving streams that overwhelmed the vehicle.
Eyewitnesses say the STC bus was caught in the strong current and was carried away by the floodwaters, causing panic among residents in the area.

The latest development adds to growing concerns over the impact of persistent rainfall in the capital, which has led to flooding in several communities, disrupted traffic flow, and rendered portions of major roads temporarily impassable.
So far no official casualty figures have been confirmed.
