The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has disqualified five aspirants who filed nominations to contest various constituency executive positions in the Sunyani East Constituency ahead of the party's internal elections.
The Bono Regional Director of Elections and Research of the NPP, Henry Osei Karikari, disclosed that 41 aspirants submitted nomination forms to contest the constituency executive elections in Sunyani East.
The party has scheduled its nationwide constituency executive elections for July 11 and 12, 2026, as part of preparations toward the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to journalists in Sunyani, Mr Karikari said the party had completed the vetting of aspirants in all 12 constituencies across the Bono Region over the weekend.
He, however, did not disclose the reasons behind the disqualification of the five aspirants in the Sunyani East Constituency.
Mr Karikari indicated that the regional leadership would engage the media on any significant issues or concerns arising from the vetting process as preparations for the elections progress.
