The Member of Parliament for Talensi, Daniel Dung Mahama, has hailed the Pearl Initiative as a bold and strategic intervention capable of unlocking the vast economic potential of the Upper East Region.

Speaking on the programme, the MP said the initiative is designed to harness the region’s untapped resources by promoting key sectors such as tourism, agriculture, trade, investment and entrepreneurship.

He noted that although the Upper East Region is richly endowed, many of its opportunities remain underutilised. The Pearl Initiative, he explained, will serve as a platform to showcase the region’s strengths and attract investors, development partners, and both local and international businesses willing to invest.

“The Pearl Initiative will help develop the enormous potential of the Upper East Region. We have rich tourism sites, fertile agricultural lands and many other opportunities that, when properly harnessed, will transform the lives of our people,” he said.

Daniel Dung Mahama added that increased investment would lead to improved infrastructure, job creation, support for local businesses and enhanced livelihoods—particularly for the youth and women.

He further stated that the initiative will position the Upper East Region as an attractive investment destination, encouraging partnerships that will accelerate socio‑economic growth and reduce poverty.

“With the Pearl Initiative, we are opening the doors of the Upper East Region to investors and development partners. This will stimulate economic growth, create employment and bring sustainable development to our communities,” he noted.

The Talensi MP called on traditional authorities, government institutions, the private sector and residents to embrace and support the initiative, emphasising that collective commitment is essential to transforming the Upper East Region into a thriving hub of opportunity and prosperity.
