The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has scheduled a series of planned and emergency maintenance exercises across the Ashanti, Central and Western Regions on Thursday, May 7, 2026, as part of efforts to improve power supply reliability and strengthen the national grid.
According to notices issued by the power distributor, the maintenance works will begin at 9:00 am in all affected areas, with restoration times varying depending on the scope of operations.
In the Ashanti Region, a major planned maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm and affect several communities including Edwenase, parts of Kwadaso, Nwamase, Apire, Ampatia, Bebu, Dako, Adumasa, Ampabame, Mpatasie, Trede, Sabin Akrofrom, Takyiman, Hill Top, parts of Tanoso and Asouyeboa, Santasi, Foase, Manso Nkwanta, Twedie, Antoakrom and surrounding areas.
Another planned maintenance operation within the region will also run from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, affecting Abore, Atuntuma, Kyenkyenase, Akuntam and nearby communities.
ECG has additionally scheduled several emergency maintenance exercises across the Ashanti Region. One operation, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, will affect Kona Mountain High, Asenemaso Nkwanta, Dumanafo, Mampongteng, Sarfo, Aboaso and Ankaase.
A separate emergency exercise from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm will impact Asokwa, Hwiremoase, Sikaman, Fumso, New Edubiase, Atobiase, Apagya, Adansi Praso, Assin Praso, Whidiem, Bodwesango, Fereso, Banka and Aboabo.
Another operation scheduled from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm will affect Bremen, parts of Kronum, Kronum Kwapra, Afrancho, Sasa and Buoho, while a fourth emergency exercise from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm will impact Lowcost, Pepedan, Yeguaa, Broadway and BD.
In the Central Region, planned maintenance works from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm will affect communities including Abrem, Agona, Efutu Mampon, Ankase, Braase, Breman Abreshia, Wassa, Ekutuase, Suhyen, Wassa Edwenase, Ayensudo, Ampenyi, Dwobo, Dutch Komenda, Dompuase, Kissi, Komenda and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, in the Western Region, an emergency maintenance exercise scheduled from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm will affect Market Circle, Beaunaukyim, Nsuta, Low Cost and nearby communities.
ECG apologised to customers for the inconvenience likely to be caused by the outages, explaining that the exercises are necessary to improve the long term stability and efficiency of the power distribution network across the affected regions.
