President John Dramani Mahama has held high level discussions with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in energy, investment and economic development.
The meeting, which took place in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, focused on strengthening strategic ties between Ghana and the UAE, particularly in support of Ghana’s growing energy demands and long term economic transformation.
According to President Mahama, the discussions were highly productive, with both leaders agreeing to expand collaboration in the oil and gas sector. Talks also explored possible UAE investment in energy storage infrastructure to improve Ghana’s energy security and efficiency.
The two sides further examined ways to diversify Ghana’s energy mix by reducing dependence on crude oil and promoting cleaner and alternative energy sources as part of efforts to ensure sustainable energy stability.
Beyond economic cooperation, the leaders also exchanged views on regional and international security developments, especially the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
President Mahama expressed Ghana’s solidarity with the UAE during the current tensions in the region and called for an urgent end to hostilities.
He stressed that peace and global stability remain critical to enabling nations to focus on sustainable development, innovation, technological progress and the advancement of Artificial Intelligence.
