The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has scheduled both emergency and planned maintenance exercises across the Ashanti and Central Regions on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, with several communities expected to experience temporary power interruptions.
According to notices issued by the power distributor, the exercise forms part of efforts to upgrade critical infrastructure, improve service reliability, and address pressing challenges within the electricity network. Power outages are expected to begin at 9:00 am in all affected areas, with restoration times varying based on the scope of work at each location.
In the Ashanti Region, an emergency maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Communities expected to be affected include Chirano, Nambro, Subri, Anhwiaso, Achease, Kwamekrom, K D Sereso, Nyinahin, Mensin Gold, Tanodumase, Koffuor Camp, Bayerebon, Nagole, Ntoborosso, Adobewura, Nhwiafutu, Kotkuom, Akorabokrom, Agogoso, Anyinamso 1 and 2, as well as nearby areas. The outage is expected to impact both residential and industrial activities, including mining operations within the zone.
In the Central Region, a planned maintenance exercise will take place from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Areas to be affected include National College, Aggrey College, Brafoyaw, Moree township, Eguase, Amosima, Adukrom, Meansa, Green Hill, and surrounding communities.
ECG apologised to customers for the inconvenience caused, acknowledging the disruption such exercises may bring to homes and businesses.
The company, however, assured the public that the maintenance works are necessary to strengthen the power distribution network and improve the quality and reliability of electricity supply in the long term.
