President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Libreville, Gabon, to participate in the maiden Libreville International Forum for Innovation and Development, the Presidency has announced.
In a statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, the high-level event has attracted Heads of State, government officials, investors and technology experts from across the world.
The forum is being held under the patronage of Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of Gabon, on the theme “Political Stability, Business Climate, and Artificial Intelligence: Catalysts for Growth.”
Mr Ofosu noted that the event also marks the opening of the newly constructed Omar Bongo Ondimba Congress Centre, which is hosting the forum and will serve as a venue for major international engagements.
According to the statement, the forum will conclude with the adoption of the Libreville Declaration, which is expected to outline the collective positions of participating leaders on governance, transparency and digital transformation across Africa.
“President Mahama remains a strong advocate for fostering partnerships that bridge the gap between government policy and private sector growth to ensure inclusive development,” the statement said.
The one-day forum will feature panel discussions, keynote addresses, the signing of agreements, and engagements between business leaders and governments.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, 2026, and coincides with the first anniversary of President Nguema’s inauguration, which President Mahama attended on May 3, 2025.
