The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has scheduled a major planned maintenance exercise in the Western Region for Monday, April 27, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, as engineers also continue to address widespread power disruptions in parts of the Central and Tema Regions.
The situation follows a fire outbreak at GRIDCo’s Akosombo substation on Sunday, 26th April 2026, alongside multiple network faults that have affected electricity supply across several communities.

Following the Akosombo substation fire, ECG curtailed power supply in parts of the Central Region. Affected communities included:

ECG has apologised to affected customers, noting that engineers are working to restore supply and resolve all network faults. The company also stressed that the planned maintenance is essential to improve the stability and reliability of the national power grid.
