
Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested one suspect in connection with the killing of Indian national, Devendra Singh, whose body was discovered in the boot of his car at Sabin Akrofuom on the outskirts of Kumasi.
Mr Singh was earlier reported missing, prompting a search by the police. On April 25, 2026, at about 2:00 p.m., officers received information that his vehicle had been found parked near the Royal Lemosey Hospital area at Sabin Akrofuom.
A police team was immediately dispatched to the location, where the vehicle was discovered by the roadside. Upon inspection, officers found the body of Mr Singh inside the boot of the car, with multiple stab wounds.
The Ashanti Regional Crime Scene Management Team processed the scene, after which the body was conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. The vehicle has been impounded to support ongoing investigations.
One suspect is currently in custody assisting police with investigations.
Following the incident, the Inspector General of Police has deployed a special team of intelligence and homicide investigators to support the Ashanti Regional Command and help identify and arrest all others connected to the crime.
In a statement issued on April 26, 2026, and signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, the police assured the public that efforts are underway to bring all perpetrators to justice and urged anyone with relevant information to assist.
