Ewe Loyalty Foundation marks 5th Anniversary with renewed commitment to community development

The Ewe Loyalty Foundation, a Youth community-based non-profit organisation, has marked its fifth anniversary with a renewed pledge to support underprivileged individuals and strengthen unity among Ewe-speaking communities.

The celebration, held at Sogakofe, coincided with the Foundation's Annual General Meeting and the official launch of its fifth-anniversary activities.

Delivering his address, the Founder, Mr. Julius Kukubor, recounted the Foundation's humble beginnings on March 4, 2021, when it started as a Facebook group he created together with Ms. Joyce Esinam Fordjour and Ms. Sandra Makafui Atigah. Within a year, the group's membership exceeded one thousand, leading to the creation of a WhatsApp platform in 2022 to coordinate charitable efforts and extend assistance to the poor and needy across Ewe communities at home and abroad.

Mr. Kukubor explained that although the Foundation initially focused on external community support, its leadership later introduced a welfare scheme for members to assist them during times of need and personal celebrations. In October 2023, the Ewe Loyalty Foundation was formally registered with the Registrar-General's Department in Accra. The Foundation now boasts a membership of 220.

Outlining the organization's objectives, Mr. Kukubor said the Foundation is committed to supporting orphans, prisoners, hospitals, and deprived schools through donations, visitations, and voluntary community service. Speaking in an interview, the General Secretary, Mr. Setor Eric Ekow Shine, highlighted the Foundation's key achievements, including donations to victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage in Battor and Mepe, as well as a recent outreach at In My Father's House orphanage in Abor, where the group donated books, stationery, and food items.

"One of our core inspirations was to support orphans," Mr. Shine said. "We aim to be like parents to them and provide not only material help but also encouragement. Each year, we visit orphanages to extend our support." Mr. Shine acknowledged that the Foundation faces financial constraints due to its reliance on member contributions. However, he emphasized plans to invest in sustainable ventures to generate income and reduce dependence on donations.

"As we celebrate our fifth anniversary, we look forward to expanding our efforts, especially toward assisting orphans and children in basic schools who lack essential learning materials and school uniforms," he added. He further urged Ewe-speaking individuals, organizations, and NGOs to collaborate with the Foundation in its mission to uplift communities. "If we come together as Ewes, we can achieve great things for our region," he said.

The event was used to call for unity, volunteerism, and continued dedication to community service as the Foundation embarks on the next phase of its development journey.
