The Ag. Director-General of Ghana Health Service Prof. Kaba Akoriyea has officially launched the 2025 China-West Africa Medical and Health Industry Expo and AI Diagnosis Deployment & Project Cooperation Summit, which is set to take place at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre from August 20 to 22, 2025.

The 2025 expo is being organised through a strategic collaboration between the Ghana Health Service and the Health Community of West Africa Association (HCOWA).

Speaking at the launch, the Ag. Director-General of Ghana Health Service, Prof. Kaba Akoriyea, disclosed that a Cancer Treatment and Research Centre is to be set up in Ghana to address national needs and access to modern surgical equipment, pharmaceutical solutions. Adding that medical training resources will be expanded through Public-Private Partnerships to support both clinical practice and research.

“The initiative aims to establish Artificial Intelligence (AI) Treatment Centres across Ghana and deploy AI-powered medical imaging and diagnostic systems in major healthcare facilities. Public and private hospitals, laboratories, and diagnostic centres will also be equipped with cutting-edge medical technologies to enhance service delivery,” he emphasised.

He called on stakeholders to come and explore partnership opportunities, discover the latest technologies, and become part of a powerful network that is redefining healthcare in the West African sub-region.

He said the 2025 Expo seeks not only to promote healthcare development but also to significantly advance the healthcare system across West Africa.

“A major highlight of this year’s edition will be the recognition of outstanding contributions in the health sector, including the Top Ten Young Doctors in Ghana, Top Ten Young Nurses in Ghana, Top Ten Medical Experts in Ghana, Top Ten Nursing Experts in Ghana, Top Ten Clinics in Ghana, Top Ten Hospitals in Ghana, Top Ten Laboratories in Ghana, and the Top Ten Health Associations in West Africa,” he emphasised.
