Senior Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has debunked reports suggesting his appointment as Personal Assistant to newly appointed Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA), Yayra Koku.
Videos circulating on social media show the political scientist accompanying the new NIA boss on his first day at work.
Following this, a flyer surfaced, alleging that Prof. Gyampo had been appointed as Yayra Koku’s Personal Assistant.
Reacting to the claim in a social media post on Thursday, January 23, Prof. Gyampo dismissed the report as false.
He clarified that his presence at the ceremony was by invitation and not an indication of any appointment as a Personal Assistant.
“Yesterday, Yayra Koku, someone I haven’t known in person but have always engaged with on social media and on phone, suddenly called and asked that I accompany him as he visits his new workplace for the first time.
“For me, it signified a willingness to build or patch up relations, and given that at that particular time, I was free, I passed through the NIA to see a few things for myself. It was truly good that I went, and very soon, I will be talking about some of the very unpleasant things I saw.
“How this translates into my appointment as Personal Assistant to this young man, who I believe meant well, baffles me. Please ignore the post below. I am a teacher, and I am very proud of that,” he wrote.
