Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) has increased its school fees for the 2023-2024 academic year.
The increment follows a Parliament order for all tertiary institutions in Ghana to increase fees by 15%.
As a result, the institute, took advantage of the situation to increase fees, specifically, Level 400 top-up students (Weekend) fees above the threshold of 15%.
The Level 400 top-up students (Weekend) paid a fee of Ghc2,730 for the 2022-2023 academic year, which will amount to Ghc3,139.5 if the 15% increment is added.
However, the Level 400 top-up students (Weekend) have been asked to pay Ghc3,567 – same amount that the ‘Freshers’ Level 300 top-up students (weekend) are paying.
Though these are proposed fees, students are compelled to pay 60% before they could register for the semester, hence the need to rectify the situation to enable students pay.
