NPA commends Tema Lube Oil for acquiring requisite ISO certification

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has commended the Tema Lube Oil Company (TLOC) for successfully acquiring the requisite International Organization for standardization (ISOs) certification.

The certifications include ISO 9001: 2015, in Quality Management System, 14001: 2015, Environment Management, and ISO 45001: 2018 in Occupation Health and Safety Management System.

Madam Alpha Welbeck, NPA Director of Economic Regulations and Planning who gave the commendation on behalf of the Authority mentioned that indeed the position of the company confirmed that recognizing the importance of the private sector brought efficiency, growth, and value under the right enabling environment.

Madam Welbeck stated at the 30th Anniversary launch of the Tema Lube Oil Company (TLOC) which is on the theme “30 years of producing world-class lubricant,” which was monitored by the Communication for Development and Advocacy Consult (CDA Consult) in Tema.

The NPA Director of Economic Regulations and Planning noted that the theme for the celebration summed up what the company had been up to over the past three decades producing world-class lubricants.

“Your hard work and dedication have paid off and to see that the company whose establishment was as a result of government’s decision and in line with its policy on privatization is still on its feet celebrating its 30th anniversary,” she added.

Madam Welbeck also reaffirmed that NPA would not relent on its mandate to support businesses it regulates to succeed by providing the necessary support and collaboration in areas including licensing, and certification compliance among others.

She said the Authority is mandated to monitor and oversee petroleum industries to thrive to boost the economy.

“After all the relevance and continuous existence of the regulator is tied to the success of the business that we regulate,” she added.

Mr. Alex Josiah Adzew, Board of Chairman of Tema Lube Oil Company said the contribution of lube oil to the economy of the country could not be overemphasized and urged Ghanaians to patronize lube oil as it was of high quality.

Mr. Adzew urged the public to patronize Tema Lube Oil Company products which included engine oils, industrial oils, gear oils, hydraulic oils, other machine oils, and others to enable them to provide more of such projects to schools, hospitals, and the communities.

Mr. Amos Donkor, Managing Director of the Tema Lube Oil Company said “since the inception of the company, we have been adding on to everything we have, the manpower, list of achievement, areas we deal in within to the enthusiasm and dedication for work and responsibility, in our view we have made the dreams of our forefathers come through”.

He however said the proliferation of very lowly priced substandard lubricants into the market negatively impacted the volumes significantly adding that the absence of legalizing a National Minimum Standard for lubrication is a major contribution to the phenomenon.
