Ghanaian media personality MC Yaa Yeboah has called on government to be more transparent about the ongoing power outages affecting the country, urging authorities to “credit Ghanaians with some level of intelligence” by telling them the truth.
Speaking during a discussion on United Showbiz, MC Yaa Yeboah expressed concern over what she described as a lack of openness regarding the real causes of the current power crisis.
According to her, the explanations being offered to the public are not entirely convincing. She specifically questioned claims linking the outages to issues surrounding the Akosombo Dam, stating that she does not believe that is the sole or actual cause of the situation.
She argued that Ghanaians deserve clear and honest communication, especially on matters that significantly impact their daily lives and businesses. In her view, withholding critical information only fuels speculation and erodes public trust.
MC Yaa Yeboah also proposed a practical solution to help citizens better manage the situation. She suggested that Ghana should implement a structured notification system that alerts people ahead of planned power outages. Such a system, she noted, would enable individuals and businesses to prepare adequately and reduce the inconvenience caused by sudden blackouts.
