Daniel Amponsah (alias Koo Nimo) was born on 3rd October, 1934 into a musical family. He formed his first cultural group the "Koo Nimo" Entertainment Cultural Group in 1957. Similarly in 1966 he founded the "Adadam Agofomma Cultural Group" both groups performed extensively on local and national radio. Daniel Amponsah also taught brass band music in his village. Some of his popular compositions include: Odonson (Let love prevail) Aburokyire abrabo (Life overseas), and Ohia ne yare ye ya (How painful it is to be poor and sickly).

Koo Nimo is one of the greatest musicians Ghana ever produced. His music was distinctly Ghanaian, and completely devoid of the vulgar Americanism we are witnessing in Ghanaian contemporary music.
