Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed confidence that Ghana will put up a strong showing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, assuring that preparations are being handled with focus and determination.
Ghana, four-time African champions, are set to make their fifth appearance at football’s biggest tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Despite securing a qualification, the Black Stars have recently come under scrutiny following a run of inconsistent performances.
Speaking on Asempa FM, the Buem Member of Parliament stressed that his attention remains fixed on ensuring the national team is properly prepared for the global stage.
“I am doing everything possible to ensure that we do things the right way," Mr Adams said.
"I am not nervous, but I am rather calculated in doing things, and if I am convinced about what I am doing, nothing stops me."
He added that while pressure is expected, he is determined not to be overwhelmed by it in his role as Sports Minister.
“Pressure will come, but I will not let it consume me as a Sports Minister," he added.
Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
The Black Stars will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17, before facing England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27 in their final group match.
As part of their build-up to the tournament, Ghana are also scheduled to play international friendlies against Mexico later this month and Wales on June 2.
