Let's intensify education on peaceful election - Chief

Gomoa Pomadze (C/R), Sept. 1, GNA - The Guatuahene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, Gomoaba Nana Apata Kofi V, has appealed to chiefs and queen mothers to intensify their education on the need for Ghanaians to conduct themselves well during and after the elections.

He said apart from organising durbars in their towns and villages to instill a high sense of discipline, nationalism and patriotism in the people, chiefs with public address equipment could effectively utilise it to educate their people on the importance of elections and the need to fully participate in it.

Nana Apata was addressing the people of Gomoa Pomadze as part of activities marking the Eguadoto Festival of the chiefs and people of Pomadze.

He said as traditional mothers and fathers of the nation, the chiefs and queen mothers had major roles to play for the maintenance of peace and stability in the country.

Nana Apata advised political parties to avoid all negative acts that could easily disrupt law and order in the country and expressed the hope that nananom would their best to support government in making the elections peaceful and successful.

Nana Esi Guraba, the Queen Mother of Gomoa Pomadze, advised Ghanaians to always bear in mind that are one family seeking for lasting peace, stability, and socio-economic progress of the nation.

Mr Kweku Appiah-Kubi, an executive member of the Gomoa Pomadze Traditional Authority, appealed to church leaders and chief imams in the country to increase their education on peaceful elections during their religious programmes.
