Abetifi (E/R), Aug 12, GNA - The Kwahu East District Assembly has completed four Community Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds at a total cost of GHȼ250,000.00 to bring quality healthcare closer to the people.
The structures, which come with accommodation for health professionals posted to work in these facilities, have been built at Borukuwa, Nkwatia, Oframase and Hyewohuden.
Nana Antwi Siaw, the District Chief Executive (DCE), who announced this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Abetifi, said work was also on-going on another CHPS compound at Nteso and said this would be ready by the end of the year.
He indicated that promoting access to quality healthcare was a major priority of the assembly.
It would therefore continue to invest in the construction of the needed infrastructure to boost health care delivery, noting that, it was only when the people were healthy that they could become economically productive.
Mr. Siaw appealed to the people to maintain good personal hygiene and to keep their surroundings tidy to avoid diseases.
They should also heed the call by health officers to lead healthy lifestyles, he added.
