Following the closure of Glo Shops across the country, our news network can confirm that the Volta Region has become the worst hit by the never ending crisis at Globacom.
Glo customers in that region are in distress as to where to go to access services and getting network interruptions and other matters fixed.
This is as a result of the closure of major Glo World Shops which management believed was a strategic move to cut down cost and for re-launching.
The closure of the shops was met with speculations and fear of the company collapsing since no official communication has ever been made to customers on where to access services.
Network service in Ho and its environs has been down following the intervention of the National Security to satisfy their part of responsibility with the subscribers.
Upon National Security contacting the Volta Regional Management of Glo, the network was restored but has since gone worst.
In Keta for instance, the network service has been down for over 8 months. Glo is drastically facing reduction in sales as a result of no network service, customer apathy and lack of effective distribution channels.
The Accra depot which used to make over GHC4 million a month is now making less than GHC800,000.00
Now, the company is considering an action to reduce its work force and this impending retrenchment is allegedly targeted at the Ghanaian staff.
Company vehicles being used by Ghanaian staff have been grounded to a halt.
In a similar event, a customer has petitioned Ghana's state authorities alleging that Glo had engaged in fraud coupled with Sim Card registration and activation.
According to the petition, Glo Mobile Ghana, allegedly use people’s identification information they have in their system during their launch for special and reserved numbers to register, activate Sim Cards and in turn sell out to unsuspecting customers.
Such Sim Cards already have a top up credit on them. For fear of being sanctioned by the National Communication Authority – NCA, Glo have started auditing the registration and activation process by calling on customers to visit any of their shop to be properly registered.
