The government has lifted restrictions on the use of motorbikes in Binduri Township and surrounding communities in the Upper East Region with immediate effect, following an improvement in the security situation.
The Ministry of the Interior announced that the decision was made after a review of prevailing security conditions in the area. The restriction had been in force since 28 April 2026 as part of measures to maintain law and order.
In a statement, the ministry explained that the ban was removed after an assessment confirmed that the security environment had significantly improved.
It expressed appreciation to chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents of Binduri and nearby communities for their cooperation and restraint during the period the restriction was in place. The ministry also commended their support for security agencies.
Although the ban has been lifted, the government urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting efforts to sustain peace and security. It encouraged the public to use lawful and peaceful means to address grievances and to report any suspicious activity to security agencies.
The Ministry of the Interior reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety, security, and peaceful coexistence of all citizens.
