The Young People's Guild (YPG) of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in the Madina District has organized a football gala at the North Legon School Complex.
The gala formed part of the Guild's initiative to call on its members and the youth to be tolerant and allow the rule of law to work as the nation patiently awaits the verdict of the Supreme Court in the presidential petition on Thursday, August 29, 2013.
The District Organizer, Emmanuel Obeng Ntow who spoke on behalf of the Guild asked the members to remember what the Bible says in Galatians 5:13-19 "As for you, my friends, you were called to be free. But do not let this freedom become an excuse for letting your physical desires control you. Instead, let love make you serve one another. For the whole Law is summed up in one commandment: "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." But if you act like wild animals, hurting and harming each other, then watch out, or you will completely destroy one another. What I say is this: let the Spirit direct your lives, and you will not satisfy the desires of the human nature. For what our human nature wants is opposed to what the Spirit wants, and what the Spirit wants is opposed to what our human nature wants. These two are enemies, and this means that you cannot do what you want to do. If the Spirit leads you, then you are not subject to the Law. What human nature does is quite plain. It shows itself in immoral, filthy, and indecent actions;"
He therefore called on Guilders to live peacefully and accept the ruling of the Supreme Court when it is announced.
The teams from Good Shepherd Congregation won the male football, Immanuel Congregation won the male volley ball, Nazareth Congregation won the female football and female football and Calvary Congregation won the female volley ball
Present at the event were members of the Program and Pubilicity Committee, Mr. Owusu Ansah, Madina District Director of Church Life and Nurture, Council members, Genvieve Otoo, District Secretary.
The rest are Ernest Amofa, District Assistant Secretary, Michael Yeboah, District Financial Secretary and Emmanuel Akoto, District Treasurer.
