Assin South DCE commissions 6-Unit classroom block and CHPS compound at Assin Ningo

Hon. Jonathan Birikorang, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Assin South, has commissioned a six-unit classroom block and a CHPS compound at Assin Ningo to improve access to education and healthcare services in the area.

The project is aimed at addressing classroom congestion and strengthening basic education delivery, while also enhancing primary healthcare services within the community.

As part of efforts to support the health facility, the DCE donated essential medical equipment and provided a motorcycle to assist health workers in delivering efficient services.

The commissioning ceremony, held on the school premises, brought together traditional leaders, opinion leaders, Assembly Members, education officials, and community members, who witnessed the formal handover of the facility.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Jonathan Birikorang stated that the project forms part of the Assembly’s ongoing commitment to expanding educational infrastructure and improving learning conditions in rural and peri-urban communities. He noted that overcrowding in classrooms continues to affect teaching and learning outcomes, hence the need for continuous investment in educational facilities.

He further emphasized the importance of community ownership and maintenance of public infrastructure, encouraging residents to take responsibility for protecting the facility.

“The government alone cannot do it all. We all have a role to play in maintaining these projects to ensure they serve generations to come,” he said.

He also acknowledged that the CHPS compound was initiated by his predecessor and expressed satisfaction at its completion, describing it as a reflection of continuity in development planning.

The District Director of Education, Mr. Isaac Nkum, commended the Assembly for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful. He noted that the facility would help reduce pupil congestion and create a better learning environment.

Traditional leaders and residents expressed appreciation to the Assembly and government for the project, pledging their support to ensure its proper maintenance and sustainability.

The facility is expected to significantly improve access to quality education and healthcare services for residents of Assin Ningo and surrounding communities.
