The Ghana AI Summit 2026 has announced a national Artificial Intelligence Innovation Challenge aimed at encouraging locally driven solutions to national development challenges.
The initiative brings together innovators, researchers, startups, software developers and students to compete for a prize pool of up to GHS 50,000.
It is being delivered in partnership with Knowledge Innovations, the Ghana AI Research Network (GAIN) and other collaborating institutions as part of efforts to expand Ghana’s artificial intelligence ecosystem.
Interested participants are to submit their entries via the Ghana AI Challenge portal at https://ghanaaisummit.com/research and should demonstrate the use of at least one Ghanaian dataset.
Entries are required to clearly define the problem being addressed, outline methodology, and demonstrate potential impact and scalability.
A panel drawn from academia, industry, technology, research and policy sectors will assess all submissions after the deadline of July 1.
The competition forms part of the Ghana AI Summit & Awards 2026 scheduled for July 29 to 30, under the theme: “Artificial Intelligence for Economic Growth and Job Creation: Innovation, Inclusion and Future Jobs.”
Participation is open to individuals and teams of up to five members, with organisers encouraging multidisciplinary collaboration between technical and non-technical fields.
The challenge focuses on AI-driven solutions across sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, financial inclusion and public service delivery.
The initiative is intended to promote practical innovation grounded in local data while supporting the development of scalable solutions relevant to Ghana’s socio-economic needs.
