The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned maintenance works in parts of the Accra East and Ashanti Regions on Friday, May 8, 2026, as part of efforts to improve power supply reliability and strengthen the national electricity network.
According to notices issued by the power distributor, the maintenance exercises will begin at 9:00 am in the affected areas, with power expected to be restored at different times depending on the nature of the works being undertaken.
In the Accra East Region, the maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and will affect communities and institutions including the Ghana Atomic Energy area, Ashongman Estate, Ga Municipal Hospital, and nearby locations. The outage is expected to impact both residential and institutional facilities within the area.
In the Ashanti Region, the scheduled maintenance will take place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and will affect C.Man Estates, Bebianiha, Asikuma, Meretweso, Nsuiem 1 and 2, Esaase, and surrounding communities.
ECG apologised to customers who will be affected by the temporary interruption in power supply, acknowledging the inconvenience the exercise may cause to homes and businesses.
The company, however, explained that the maintenance works are necessary to improve the long term stability and efficiency of the power distribution network and enhance service delivery across the affected regions.
